The Sheep Spa Experience

De Oude Kraal Country Estate and Spa is situated on a fifth generation Merino sheep farm established in 1885. The sheep farm forms an integral part of De Oude Kraal’s daily life and we wish to include our guests in the farming calendar and sheep related activities whenever possible.

The Merino sheep theme is prevalent throughout this wonderful Bloemfontein spa facilities and is evident in all aspects of the spa décor, spa treatment rooms, spa treatments names, textures and colour schemes.

The Merino is a breed of sheep prized for its wool. Merinos are regarded as having the finest and softest wool of any sheep.  During sheering time the guests have the opportunity to view the sheering process first hand.

A perfect way to view the herds of sheep peacefully grazing is to enjoy a guided horse ride on the farm for a panoramic view of farm life untouched by urban development and to experience pure harmony. Nothing warms the heart more, than seeing the spring time lambs leaping in the grass while the ewes watch patiently.
